Ahmad Faisal has worked in the airline industry for 26 years beginning his career as a Trainee Aircraft Maintenance Engineer in Dublin, Ireland in 1980. Continuing his career with Malaysia Airlines in 1984 as a full-fledge Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer; Faisal was drawn to the application of project management within aircraft maintenance management activities.
In 1988, he spearheaded a team of maintenance professionals in developing Aircraft Check Management Information System (ACMIS) for Malaysia Airlines Engineering.
The five-year project has placed Faisal in various aspects of maintenance activities from Production Planning and Control, Procurement and Inventory Management, Engineering Support Services, Quality Assurance, and Human Resources. The success of such applications has taken Faisal across the globe working along with other professionals in Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, Australia, Germany and the United States of America. In 1995, he took on the role of Engineering Business Development Controller expanding the third-party aircraft maintenance businesses for Malaysia Airlines. His contributions have not gone unrecognised, and in 1992, Faisal was engaged by the Airline as an associate trainer and internal consultant on program and project management related activities across the company.
During this tenure, Faisal was assigned to oversee the overall organisational change program alongside with Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and Faisal amongst the Senior Management of Malaysia Airlines. Faisal has held various portfolios including Program Director implementing change programs and projects at the corporate level including the Corporate Branding initiative, Enterprise Risk Management, Human Resources Information System and Performance Management System.
Faisal also lends his project management expertise at National level with various ministries and agencies, where he participated in the 1998 Commonwealth Games, dubbed as “KL98”, the 1998 APEC summit, the 1999 Arsenal Asian Tour and the 2004 “Stars of the Musical”, a London West End production in Kuala Lumpur.
A believer in self-development and continuous learning, Faisal took up various part-time studies in business and management earning him a PhD in Management and DBA. His passion for knowledge sharing has led him leaving his aviation career in 2006 to set up his own consultancy services. Since then, Faisal has provided consultancy services in the areas of Change Management, Program and Project Management, and Training and Development.
Currently, Faisal is the Vice President (Academic) with AIMSMET Global, experience in leading international executive development programs, from initial development, delivery and quality improvement initiatives. Faisal also serves as a resource person for lecturing, tutoring, supervising, and an examiner for Australian, Belgian, Kazakhstan, Malaysian and US-based universities on a visiting basis.
An HRDF (Malaysia) approved trainer is a certified trainer by Ashridge Management College (UK) and Cranfield Institute of Technology (UK). Faisal has successfully published his book, “Trapped in Between – realities of the project world” ISBN 1-4251-0904-7 and enjoys photography as a serious activity
