BEST PRACTICE OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT

OVERVIEW

The objective of this module is to introduce learners to concepts and techniques related to the design, planning, control, and improvement of manufacturing and service operations. The module begins with a holistic view of operations, where we stress the coordination of product development, process management, and supply chain management. As the course progresses, we will investigate various aspects of each of these three tiers of operations in detail. We will cover topics in the areas of process analysis, materials management, production scheduling, quality improvement, and product design.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

    1. Demonstrate knowledge of operations management and the importance of operations management in meeting organisational goals.
    2. Evaluate the appropriate application of process analysis to the situation at hand.
    3. Evaluate the impact of productivity on the overall performance of the organisation.
    4. Apply the appropriate practices on the process, productivity, and quality to achieve the organisational goals.
